Voice Communications

A "Structured Wiring" system installed in your home will meet your telephone and voice communication needs for intercom and copper / fiber wired telephone systems. All systems require to be wired to a Central Hub from where they can be distributed around the home. This will be a requirement for all houses regardless of size.

Intercom Systems

In today's more security conscious environment the intercom provides a useful interface to deal with friends and strangers at our door. The intercoms can be just "audio only" or incorporate a video screen so that you can see to whom you are talking. The latest systems can support just one location in a small home or can be expanded to suit not just one apartment building but can operate over a campus where your guest may be trying to access the complex via any one of multiple entry points. Pressing a button on the handset will unlock the door for the visitor and optionally authorize an elevator to proceed to the ground floor - allow your guests to enter and then transport them to the correct floor.

Telephone Access

While the current telephone system is copper based and we are aware of how well it serves us, this is changing to a fiber telephone network. Some housing developments in New Zealand already have fiber to the house with internet download speeds of 30Mb/sec. Having fiber to the door is one of the most important drivers on how you will use technology in our homes. Electronic appliances such as House Alarm / Fax Machines / Sky Boxes will all need to access the internet to provide their services, once they are unable to "Dial Out" over copper. This will require a robust network around even the most humble of homes! While there will be interfaces to connect existing equipment to the new fiber network they are very limited in functionality. The intention is to encourage you to move completely to a digital network.

Home Telephone Exchange

With the telephone system there is typically a limit of five devices per connection. By the time the alarm system, fax machine and the Skybox are connected there are only two telephones that can be connected to the line before it stops performing as expected? The simplest method around this is to install a Home Telephone Exchange.
